    Hello,

I’m having trouble. I shot some video with my new HMC 150 in 720/60p – meant to shoot in 720/30p. Captured into FCP. However it has to many frames packed in there and has that 60p jerky/strange “look” that 60p does. I want it to have the regular 30p “look”. I’ve tried de-interlacing and exporting it out at several 30p formats(720/30p, 1080/ 30p, NTSC SD, ProRes, AIC , etc – mostly using compressor but not always). All to no avail, every attempt ends in an exported video that has the same 60p “look”. Which I really need to get rid of… In the future I’ll be more careful but I’m stuck now.

I just want to get this footage down to 30p and look 30p (not so picky about the image size, SD or HD). I don’t have a Kona or external capture gear. Just my imac and FCP. Mayday. Please help!

First, there is no interlacing in 720P, that’s what the P stands for. Second, are you sure it’s not a shutter speed setting? I have not seen a “jerky” 60p footage, only crisper without motion blur. And lastly, if you shot it 60, there isn’t a way I can think that would be feasible to make it look like 30 with motion blur but you can use Cinema Tools to conform it to 30p and it will be 30fps. Sorry no definite answer but what you shoot is what you get.

Reality? What did you make it?

Ya, 60p does not look jerky at all.

It’ll look jerky if you shoot 60fps with your shutter at 30.

If there is an adjective for p60, is SMOOTH.

If you can drop that on a p30 sequence and export. You will get plain p30.
