    Hello,

I’m not a FCP user but will be very soon. However I work with clients that use FCP and we keep running into issues. I’ve been rendering out animations with After Effects in QT format, Animation Codec with alpha. I pre-multiply it. When my client imports into FCP the alpha is there but it is always “dirty” looking. Again, I don’t know FCP very well. Is there something I should be doing on my end or vice versa? I usually whip out 30 sec spots all in AE so I never have an issue.

    Thanks,

    Todd

Thanks for the info Dave. So I should be rendering to straight alpha for him then? I had wondered if there was a way to interpret the alpha in FCP like AE has. Then again When I import into Premiere I don’t believe there is a way either.

Thanks for the help. I’m purchasing an older Mac and also FCP within the month. I need to learn all this.

Premiere Pro understands both straight and premultiplied alpha channels: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/premierepro/cs/using/WS1c9bc5c2e465a58a91cf0b1038518aef7-7c6fa.html

You can access the ability to ignore an alpha channel via the modify properties option of a clip.

    Hope this helps,
    Dennis
