I know that the classic answer to this question was Nattress’s “GFilm,” but I just wanted to check that that is still the answer.

I’m starting with 16:9 1080i60 video, and need to output standard def 14:9 letterboxed 720×486 (or in other words, really 4:3) video, but with a “24 fps film look” added to the mix.

Would this recipe work well? (1) Edit the entire movie at 1080i60, output a 1080i60 ProRes422, then (2) import that new movie file into FCP, (3) apply GFilm. Then, (4) export to Compressor for conversion to 14:9 look, actual 4:3 standard def.

Thanks for even bothering to read yet another 24p post….
