I’m cutting a promo out of a PAL tv show and the files I were given were H.264 quicktimes. They cut no problem but any time I try to add any effects, even something as simple as a cross dissolve, or subtitles even, I get flashframes. I’m guessing this has something to do with the way the original files were compressed but is there anything I can do about it?

    Thanks!

Please, you should NOT edit h264 files in FCP.
    Convert files b/4 editing.

Hi Pamela, Chris is correct, cutting in h264s what is causing it. I tried this (only once to save a little time) and got the exact same result. Never again!
Trans code your h264 file to a ProRes 422, edit with this file and your flash frame issue will go away.
