I’m using FCP 7, and it keeps crashing. I’ve already tried trashing the prefs, and that doesn’t help. My media is stored on an external G-Raid drive, and it is apple pro res 422 quicktimes. I’ve imported a few of these files into my project bin. When I scrub through the clips in the viewer, FCP crashes. What’s happening here? Should I not have my media on this external drive?

You definitely want your media on an external drive.

Close FCP and Fix Permissions on te system drive using the Apple Disk Utility and see if that helps.

BTW, check “About Final Cut Pro” and let me know what version it says you’re running please.

I went into disk utility and repaired the disk permissions, but this didn’t seem to help. When I went into FCP and tried to scrub through a clip that I had imported, the program crashed again.

    I’m running FCP 7.0.3

You might have a corrupt project file, a quick check would be to create a new project and see if the media imports and plays in the new project.

    Indeed. Reimport in new project.

Also. Import media from your system drive.

too rule out the external drive. How is it formatted?

Try to create a new admin user. Login with that.
And see if the problem persists.
This way you know if it’s a system issue or not.
