  Convert and sync 25fps to 24fps

  Hello All! Thanks in advance for any thoughts or suggestions on the following… We´ve gone through past forums but haven´t come up with a solution that works.

  We are working with footage shot with two cameras: a Canon 5D/HD at 24fps and a Canon XHA1/HDV PAL that shoots at 25fps (50i).
  Thus, we are working with these 2 formats (Yeh, we know – hell!)… and we haven’t found the way to do a true sync up.

  – With pluraleyes it initially syncs up but then drifts out of sync. understandably…

  – We’ve tried converting the file through compressor leaving the duration at 100% and also tried dropping it down to 96% as some people have suggested in the forums. NO go. The drifiting is in fact worse on the latter.

  For the most part, we do not plan to use so much of the video from the 25fps but we DO need to sync the audio.

  We’ve been working with FCP and compressor.

  Any thoughts?

  Seems to me you need to conform the 25fps material to 24fps first. You can do this with Cinema Tools.
