How to use audio from all cameras in multicam editing
Hello, i haven’t been able to find an answer to this…maybe it’s something that I’m fundamentally doing wrong or don’t understand, but any guidance would be appreciated
i’m am preparing to edit a 4-camera documentary project.
I want to use multicam editing, have already created the multiclips no problem….
I plan to create many pre-cutdown sequences to categorize the interview content and narrow things down etc. i don’t care to choose the particular angle at this point, just the interview content….and cut the angles later….
My plan is to incorporate the shots from the pre-edited sequences into my Master Edit Sequence by dragging a pre-cutdown-sequence into the viewer…..then choose my in and out for the shot I want to use and then drag that clip into the Master Edit Sequence…being sure to hold down Command while doing so, so that I’m not nesting…and so my multiclip drags into the new timeline.
then, I can choose the angles within my Master Sequence Timeline just like any other multiclip.
my question is this….
How can I best incorporate the audio from all 4 of my cameras? I want to use the audio from all cameras, so it is available in my sweetening session when I’m done.It seems like I should be able to collapse my multiclips and then have 8 tracks of audio show up in my timeline (2 for each of my 4 cameras), but it doesn’t seem to work this way.
I know I can choose audio independently of video in multicam editing, but i don’t want the audio from a different camera. I want the audio from all of the cameras in my MasterTimeline.
Do I have to go back and match frame everything and drag the audio from every camera manually down to my master timeline? Seems like there has got to be an easier way.
What am I not understanding or doing correctly?
Thanks,
Todd
