When I try to render a sequence sometimes (when only a small little part needs rendered) it’ll render through the whole way but when it’s done the sequence doesn’t turn completely Un-Rendered….. instead it’ll just ADD MORE parts that need rendered then from what I started with.

In the “render all” drop down list…. I have every option checked.
    I don’t understand why it’s doing this.

    Any suggestions?

You can select clips and just render selected (choose that in the drop down menu). Also you can render between in/out points.

Also when FCP does strange things, it might be time for basic maintenance (trash preferences & repair permissions). There are many third party tools to help with this (Digital Rebellion etc). A search of this forum will reveal lots of tips and instructions to do system maintenance.

I’m not mixing codecs. It’s all HDV footage captured at prores 422.

I trashed the prefs and it’s still doing the same thing. This makes no sense….

Go to Tools>>Render Manager and delete all of the render files for your sequence, then re-render. Let us know if that cures the problem.

Well… I can tell you I just spent a week dealing with render errors using ProRes422 using footage that was convert from HDV to ProRes422 on the fly capturing.

I’ve come to the conclusion with my deadlines… I’m abandoning the ProRes thing all together and capturing in DVCProHD. The render times are so much faster, the quality is equivalent and overall, I’ve had lots less issues using DVCProHD.

Do you need a deck to capture as DVCPro HD or can you capture as that codec directly from the camera?

Funny, I’m not a fan of DVDCPro at all, and I have zero issues with ProRes. However, I must say, I am constantly working for others solving fields related issues as of late, many of which I have traced to FCP misinterpreting fields from video shot on some of the latest Sony cameras.
