  • Overlays disappear after QuickTime Conversion export

Posted by Chris Linke on November 15, 2010 at 3:37 pm

I have a sequence with a lot of markers in it. I’m navigating to each marker and exporting a still of that particular frame using “Export > Using QuickTime Conversion…” I have overlays turned on so I can see what each marker is called, and that tells me what to call the still.

But every time I export, the overlays get turned off and I have to turn them back on again. Naturally, this is annoying.

    Any ideas? I’m on FCP 6.0.6, OSX 10.4.11, 4 x 2.5 GHz PowerMac G5.

    Thank you for your time.

That’s probably just the way it is…

Maybe if you perform a match frame, and export the still from the Viewer?

I don’t actually want the overlay graphic on the final still. I want it clean, but the overlay guides my file naming.

Dang. I just tried it on FCP 7.0.2 on OSX 10.6.4. The problem exists there, too. I don’t understand the logic of why overlays must go away when exporting in this manner, but it looks like there’s naught to do about it. Looks like Jerry’s idea is the way to go.

    Thanks, guys.
