  • Workflow question for Sony V1U at 1080p24 (or 1080pA24)

    Hi

I’m working on a project where A cam is being shot on DVCPro 720p24 and the B cam, which is the Sony V1U is supposedly 1080p24. We’ve already gotten some of the tapes back and I’ve tried every capture setting I can think of to get the HDV tapes to come in at 23.98 but nothing seems to work and they all come in at 1080i60 29.97.

I’ve seen on the cow and elsewhere that I should capture it as 1080i60 and then reverse telecine it either in Cinema Tools or Compressor, but that info was from 2007 I believe. I used Compressor for the footage I’ve already captures and it worked fine, but I’m wondering if either I or the DP have a wrong setting which is preventing Final Cut from performing the pull down on capture, or if I just have to suck it up and run it through Compressor. Does anyone know the proper settings for both the V1U and Final Cut Pro?

I’m editing on Final Cut Pro 7.0.3 on an iMac with 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7 and 4 gigs of RAM running Snow Leopard.

    Thank you in advance!
    Scott
