  Can I match hex colour codes in FCP

  I’m working on a project whereby a set of jpegs have been created with simple logo graphics and text.

  I need to add extra text to the jpegs, but in exactly the same colour; I’ve tried the magnifying glass (on both my monitors) but it doesn’t give me an exact match.

  I’ve also tried using the web safe colour chart within the text editor, but the codes there don’t match up to the hex code I’ve been given and I tried just inputting the hex code in the search box at the bottom, but that didn’t work.

  So just wondering if it’s possible to somehow input or match the hex code and get the same colour?

  I would use Photoshop or after effects for this.

  Fcp’s color picker and text engines are awful.

  I agree with Jeremy.
  Being JPEG (RGB), you better do it in Photoshop, AE or Motion.

  You can do it. First go to:
  https://www.color-hex.com/

  type in the hex code for your color. It’ll come up with the RGB, HSL, HSV and CMYK color values.

  In FCP:
  Under the Controls tab in the Viewer, there are 3 tools you can click
  on that change color- eye dropper, some rainbowy thing, and a color
  square. Click on the square.It will bring up a Colors palette. Click
  on the second option from the left up top. Change the drop down to RGB
  Sliders, enter the RGB info and voila. If you drag that color to the
  bottom row of white squares, it will now be in your FCP palette. Works
  somewhat similarly in all the other FPC apps too.
