Capturing footage on the HV40 using the HDV30 setting on the camera. What are the best capture settings for FCP7? I don’t want to lose any quality on the footage – do I need to chomp the disk space and use ProRes HQ or normal ProRes?

I’ve searched on Avid, Google and Creative Cow and don’t see any clear answer on capture settings for this camera. THANKS.

    Cool thanks!

Question: one person said to capture in HDV and then render out the final sequence in ProRes to achieve the same results without the larger file sizes. Is this true? Or do I need to capture in ProRes? I just don’t want any quality loss at all.

    Deliverable is SD DVD.

Holy Smokes. Is this still a problem with the latest FCP7?

We are digitizing around 90 one hour HDV tapes shot on the Canon HV40. I do not want to redo them, but why am I not reading this from other people? My gutt is to of course trust you, but it’s just a 90-tape decision.

    Cool man! Thanks.

I’m using now the Apple HDV-ProRess 422 preset. Good?

    (FCP7)

you ARE the man. we already see an improvement in the footage. there was a flicker that was apparent capturing HDV. ProRess 422 – it’s gone.
