Dropped Frames Clipped Destroyed
In Final Cut Pro 7, if there are dropped frames detected, it no longer keeps the clip, but rather, destroys its.
In old versions, it use to keep the clip.
How can I get Final Cut Pro 7 to keep the clip?
I’m capturing DV.

There’s a preference in your FCP prefs. You probably want “warn after capture” but your captures will not be accurate this way.

I don’t think that’s the setting. Cause I never had this problem in the old version (version 6 and older).
In the old version, if a frame was dropped, capture would be aborted and it would place the clip a clip in the bin (up to the dropped frame).
In the new Final Cut (7), if a frame is dropped at anytime during a capture, Final Cut will destroy the entire clip.
I’m currently capturing 2 hour tapes, and if a frame is dropped at 1 hour 59 minutes, I’d lose a 2 hour capture. (This has already happened once LOL)
This wouldn’t be a problem, but the CREATE NEW CLIP ON SCENE DETECT feature when capture DV also seams to be gone from (replaced with the DV Mark start/stop feature).

Capturing such a long clips is not healthy.

Exactly. It’s not a best practice.
Also, when you installed FCP7, your preferences got deleted, which means it resets to default. FCPs default is “Abort Capture on Dropped Frames”. If you turn that off, your issue will go away, but again. This is not a good idea.
