“Back to the Mac” event, any new FCP news?
Posted by Jeff Breuer on October 13, 2010 at 4:46 pmApple is holding an even next week to presumably announce the new Mac OS X 10.7 Lion. Think there will be any news about our beloved FCP or Pro Tools? Perhaps this is why the last update came before Snow Leopard?

October 13, 2010 at 4:57 pmWell… the last update to Studio was just a couple of months ago… there very well might be an update to Studio that goes along with the next OS. But I seriously doubt a new version of Studio is part of this event. I don’t see that happening for a year or more. Reason is that Apple is shipping 64 bit OS’s and Machines, and to make FCP become 64 bit is no easy/quick/normal upgrade… It’s a total rewrite.

October 14, 2010 at 2:00 amI wouldn’t expect any FCP news.
I’d be thrilled with 64 bit Quicktime news though! Quicktime X is a hollow shell.

October 14, 2010 at 7:10 pmGoing from past experience, it’s doubtful there will be in-depth news on ProApps. With the invitations to the event featuring a lion, it’s pretty predictable that a new OS version will be announced, especially since SL was a mini-update feature-wise and Apple want to bridge the gap between OSX and iOS. Every time Apple has presented a new OS, it took out a good hour of the presentation. There won’t be much time left for other stuff, let alone all the ProApps line.
Then again, this is Apple, so whoever knows has a nuke-proof NDA and ain’t telling. We’ll see on the 20th…
