Final Cut Viewer Lag , freeze
Hi , im pretty new with Final Cut Pro 5. I just bought a new Canon T2i and i made some videos
HD 1280 x 720 60fps and when i try to see in the viewer the video just lag out and it’s difficult to stop it.
If anyone can help me with my problem it would be really appreciate , thanks !! -

Your problem is that you need to transcode that footage to a format that FCP can edit. With FCP 5, I think the best you can do is use Compressor to transcode the footage from it’ h.264 format to either uncompressed HD, or DVCPROHD using the the same frame rate and size. Uncompressed files would end up being better technically, but they would be huge files and require a fast disk array to just play them.
Do yourself a favor and upgrade to FCP 7 and Studio (2009). That gives you ProRes to transcode to with software that you can use that integrates very well with the current version of FCP. Much better codec than DVCPROHD, and really it competes nicely with uncompressed HD.

I am having an issue with Finalcut7 doing this. I have searched many posts and not found a solution. The video freezes,in the viewer, sometimes it continues to play audio and sometimes I get the beach ball and the playhead jumps. It also does this in quicktime when I play mpeg4’s. I tried restoring to an earlier version from time machine from a few days ago but it does not help.
Did anyone ever resolve this? -
you are a lifesaver, thank you!!!!! i couldnt get my work done and i was pulling hair getting frustrated. changing the codec changed my world
