  DVCPRO PAL – big pixels when export to quicktime maybe ntsc

  Hello there,

  I have a very strange problem.

  I received footage for final grading of a 30min fiction project shot on 35mm then transfered do DVpal.
  The editor lives in NY and send me the footage to Europe by sever/ as .rar opened as Quicktime DVCPRO – Pal 25fps.
  Imported into FCP, converted to Apple ProRes 422 Pal and sent to Color for grading. After grading sent back to FCP and tried to Export through Compressor as quicktime DV-pal.
  And here the fun starts the exported material has got huge pixels!

  On the timeline after reimport to FCP the it looks normal and playback likewise. All settings are in PAL 25fps exept in Color where the resolution preset is 720×486 but with.height are 720×576 framerate 25fps.

  Any hints? Thanks in advance!!!!

  Is this true?

  Well, once the film has been destroyed converting him to DV, why to go Prores?
  Bring it to Color as DV.
  At least you won’t degrade it further with two more re-compressions.
