Powerpoint and 1080P
Thank you in advance for your time and expertise.
I shot a presentation in 1080p video. There’s an accompanying PowerPoint presentation… You know what’s coming don’t you? I need to cut the PowerPoint slides and 1080P footage together and get it on a DVD for my client.
Anyone that can provide some pointers or solutions here I’d appreciate it. My approach is going to be be to convert the slides to PNG, JPG or another graphic format and insert them into a 1080P FCP timeline.
Any suggestions, tips or other workflow ideas? Have I told the experts here what awesome and generous people they are for sharing their valuable knowledge with us?

I’ve found pngs to be much better than jpeg exports from PPT. Depending on the aspect of the PPT in FCP you may have to use the Distort tool in the Motion tab to adjust.

I second that, always make png outta PP.
Now, you can put a 1080 size grfx background under the smaller then 1080 PP slide in the timeline.

Man, it’s been a while, bit I used to rent a scan converter and play the PPT out in real time and record that. The few times I did it, they were really well done ppt presentations so they moved and transitioned and I needed that to be recorded in real time.
Don’t know if you need that kind of situation but thought I’d throw it out there.

These are your basic text and a few diagrams. I’m guessing the png with a graphic background to fill the frame is the way to go.

And why don’t you just export the PP as a movie.
Set the size and you get an Animation with all the original effects.

Set the size and you get an Animation with all the original effects.”Every time I did that, it didn’t work well and things get screwy. That’s why a scan converter was the cleanest way.
