Quicktime Export trouble
Hi all..
I did a search for this, but didn’t find my same situation.
I can’t get a Quicktime reference to export. I have a 2 hour sequence and I want to make a DVD. The sequence is 1920×1080, 23.98, uncompressed 10bit 4:2:2. Sequence settings match the footage in it. I have rendered the entire sequence.
When I try to export the Quicktime movie (current settings, with self-contained un-checked) it says it will be like 4 hours to export. It also seems to get a ‘general error’ after a short while. Just as a test, I then tried to do it with Video only and it was still about 4 hours to export. I thought a quicktime reference would export fast (like less than 10 minutes maybe?). If if says 3 hours to export, I assume it’s not doing a reference right? Seems like it wants to re-compress my sequence for some reason.
Can anyone help me figure out why it’s not exporting a reference?

Sounds like the “full” quality effects aren’t rendered… be sure they are too.

good point. But I did make sure when I did my rendering that all the check marks were activated (needs render, rendered proxy, proxy, preview, full, and unlimited).
So I’m pretty sure I have a fully rendered sequence. No HDV or anything like that going on. Everything is in the Uncompressed 10bit codec. argh… very frustrating.

Were all the render settings set to be of the highest quality? These settings are in the sequence’s settings… maybe some weren’t, so they had to be re-rendered? It’s an odd situation you have there for sure…

I have checked the render settings. The codec is the ‘same as sequence codec’. Under ‘video processing’ it is set to ‘Render 10-bit material in high-precision YUV’. Are those the correct settings to be able to export a QT reference?
I still could not get the QT reference to work. The solution I used for this export was to try ‘export using compressor’. I used that option and broke up the sequence into a few parts. Using that option, I was able to get compressor to create my MPEG2 files for the DVD. I figured it would be faster that was than doing the long full QT export and then bringing that into compressor to make the MPEG2 files.
Still really frustrating that I could not get the QT reference to work.
