    Hi all,
I think that from everything I have read that you cannot import OMF files into FCP. My situation is that my employer is considering switching to FCP from our old Avid systems. The problem is, the way my company has always archived their projects is to create an OMF (2.0) with video and audio embedded, and burn to disk. We have hundreds if not thousands of these, and we do actually re-import them quite frequently as our clients usually come back and want to update their ads. If I cannot get these OMFs into final cut, then that will be the end of the line for FCP in my work place.

Does anyone know of way to get them into FCP without a huge amount of trouble? any help is greatly appreciated.

Also, if anyone is so inclined to share, what methods do you use for archiving in FCP?

    Thanks!!!!

    Ryan

Automatic Duck can import OMFs into FCP. Never done it with video, but check there web site and send them an email to clarify.

The Duck can also import AAFs from AVID into FCP which is a much better way to import as it does a good job of translating a whole lot of extra clip and timeline info. However, as your archives are OMFs then I am pretty confident you can import.

That might work for audio but the poster needs to import pictures as well

Just a thought. You can import omf into stp with video. I was hoping that you could export it with video too.
    Matt.
