  drifting sync over time

  Hi everybody,
  I received a video file ( H264, 1280 x 720, 23.98, 44.1 Khz 32 bit floating ) that is 8 minutes and 18 seconds in duration. When I play it in QT it remains in sync, when I play it in FCP ( v6.06 on an iMac 2Ghz Core 2 Duo) it drifts out of sync. It gets about 4 frames out around 5 minutes in. I dropped it into my sequence and had the sequence adjust to the clip’s parameters including the 44Khz. Any ideas why it would drift out of sync. I don’t know what camera it was shot on or how the file was made, sorry.

  You need to convert the H.264 to an FCP editable codec (which H.264 isn’t). Any of the codecs shown in FCP’s Easy Setups are edit codecs. Most folks would convert the H.264 to ProRes. BTW, convert your audio to Linear PCM, 48kHz, 16 or 24 bit.
