24fps and 25 fps on the same timeline
Hi, I am busy editing a project I shot on my 7d, I live in pal land and I shot it on the 24 fps setting, I also have old 25 fps shots I would like to add to the project , what is the best way to go about this? Also any tips for smoothing out panning shots ?

In Compressor you can convert the 24p to play at 25p, I would do it up front, that way no surprises during the edit.

Thanks , so it will be better to make the 24p 25p rather than the other way around? i have been tying it on mpegstream clip but will try compressor , also i have been trying to get a smooth pan , is that impossible with the 7d? i am always getting this shudder/strobe kind of effect?

First priority is to determine what you need as a final for delivery. That will determine the most suitable frame rate. That needed to be thought through before shooting and one frame rate chosen. If it is for broadcast in the PAL world, then use Compressor to convert the 24 fps footage to 25 before editing.
Panning with progressive cameras is always harder. Slower pan speed and longer shutter speed should be experimented with to get a smooth pan. A high shutter speed will make a pan even worse
