Advice for rock solid install of Final Cut Studio on my system
Hello experts,
I’m sorry if this has been covered ad nauseum, but I’m about to install Final Cut Studio for the first time and I want to make sure I get it right. I couldn’t really find the answer to my question in previous posts.
I have a brand new
27-inch iMac 2.93GHZ Quad-core i7
16GB RAM
256GB SSD
2TB internal serial drive
2TB external RAID array by G-Tech
2TB external serial drive by G-TechI’m using the 256GB SSD as my startup disk.
The 2TB Internal Serial Drive is for extra media content, music and movies.
The 2TB External RAID array will be for Final Cut media (scratch files).
The 2TB External Serial Drive is my Time Machine backup. What I’ve managed to glean from info on the Internet and forums here is that Final Cut Studio should be installed on my startup disk and media/scratch files should go on the external RAID array.
What about the Final Cut Studio content discs? Should those go on the startup disc or a separate disc? And if anyone has any good advice for this install (other than the great article on this subject by Jerry Hoffman), please let me know.
Thanks. I look forward to many returns here at Creative Cow.
