Any suggestions for a prosumer deck?

I have used the Panasonic AG-DV1000p for about 6 years and it finally started to eat tapes.

All I need is SD playback that has analog in and recogniozes FW all time everytime unlike some JVC models i Have used.

    Thanks!

A friend of mine uses a Sony GV-HD700 for that purpose and swears by it. I think they retail around $1k, so you might be able to find a used one for half that or less. It’s an HDV deck that’s mini-DV compatible so that’ll give it longer life than a straight mini-DV deck.

BTW, personally, I hated every JVC deck I’ve ever had to use … just my two pence.

Sony DSR-11. Not cheap but very reliable and has yet to not see Firewire. It does have some sync issues when using Firewire though.
