Posted by Toni De paula on August 27, 2010 at 9:27 pm

Hi everyone, i’m totally desperated i have 10 hrs from now,
to author a dvd with three languages on it .
I opened the sub files as tiff files on FCP 7.0.2.
They are all on sync and opened just fine,
when I tried to export a XML file so i could have it tranlated to STL
on title exchange to open on DVDSP , it gives a message errors
as it didn’t see the tiff files.
I did some search on the net but i couldn’t find any post on it.
I pray for all of you high talented people to help me.

    quad 2.66 dual core Intel Xeon, 6gb 667 ddr2, 2 tb hd,
aty radeon 512, OS 10.6.4 final cut 7.0.2 and dvdsp 4.2.2.

    Thx
    and happy weekend

Check the STL and see if the tiff filenames match.
If not, do a search/replace to make them matching.

Also, make sure the STL lives in the same directory as the tiffs.

Thx Bouke Vahl for the help
I just rendered 2hrs of tiffs over a second trk on FCP.
I exported to XML with both 2 trks 1st video trk and 2nd tiffs subtitles trk,
just like you have said , to the same directory the tiffs where placed.
When i opened it on the title exchange it doesnt show the 2nd trk with the
files mencioned on it , it only shows(–) and when i check it out it doesnt import.
Is there any other thing i should do, i’m kind of exhausted right now,
but (zzzzzzzz)snoring and blabblingi will survive.
I’ll continue to copy n paste the rest of the 1000 phrases that i have with
outlined text on FCP, if you have an other solution i will appreciate.

    Thx for the effort.

    Hi Toni,

Just saw the post by chance. In TitleExchange there a menu item “Help” which allows you to send me an email and then describe the problem.
TiteExchange does not handle graphics (at least not yet).
But you can contact me off list and I will help.

    Hi Alex
    Thx for answering.
I placed 50 titles in each trk on FCP, and saved and exported a XML,
since it only opens 50 titles at time.
I translated it on title exchange importing each trk separate.
How can i merge all of them on the same trk on DVDSP, ’cause
when i open one trk it replaces the other one existed.
    What should i do?
    Thx again.
    Have a pleasent monday.
    Toni

    Toni,

It’s well known that you will get into trouble with ‘DVDSP conform STLs’ if the hour of the first TC starts with anything other than 00.
So in FCP create a dupe of your sequence, reset the sequence start TC to 0, then split your subtitles into groups of 50 or less into different tracks, export that and use the TEP free version to export each subtitle track to a STL file.
Open all of these files in TextEdit and merge the subtitle entries of them into 1 document in the order of tracks — keep the command and comments of the first file at the top. Pretty easy, but maybe time consuming if you got a lot of subtitles.

And again as said above TEP does not support bitmap subtiltles of any kind.

    Regards
