    Hello everybody,

Quick question. I’m starting a big project that involves tons of RED footage shot at different places. I’m importing all the clips using Log and Transfer to transcode them into Pro Res 4444. My question is, during the Transcoding..should I leave Final Cut alone to convert all the files or can keep working on it editing some other pieces? Will that affect or corrupt the transcoding?
I ask this question because we have a lot of red footage to import and it looks like it may take a while…perhaps a couple of days…..

    thank you in advance.

[Renzo Reyes] “hould I leave Final Cut alone to convert all the files or can keep working on it editing some other pieces? “

You can continue editing. FCP will transcode in the background. BUT, be warned, when a new clip is imported FCP will make the bin it is going into the active bin, active window…so it will stop you from what you are doing. Might get distracting after a while.

    Nope.

Time to invest in either another machine and FCP, or the Red Rocket.
