QT Pro – where did it go after installing Snow Leopard and FCS 3?
i thought it was part of one or the other (SL, or FCS3) and i had it before, but i suppose i upgraded to it separately so need to find it. it is showing as QT Player 10.0, no export options, but there are “save as” and “save for web.” Flip for Mac is installed, too.

Look in your Utilities folder. I’ll wager it’s there.

For some reason they decided to put it in your utilities folder. If it is not there you need to install it from the DVD’s you got when you bought the computer, not the OSX disc but the Applications disk. You can also download it from the Apple website but for some reason it won’t install on Snow Leopard.

Yes, there is a “Quicktime Player 7” in my Applications/Utilities folder, but there is a “QuickTime Player” in my Applications folder, and when opened that second one says it is version 10 (with no export function), yet the QTP 7 DOES have export function and is the Pro version. Should I just drag it into my apps folder deleting the other 10.0 player version? (i know…no-brainer questions again…)

I don’t think I’d delete nor move nada… just drag the QT 7 icon to your doc. If you want all QT’s to open in it, right click on one, and select it to open in QT 7, and then select all files of this type to do the same.

Don’t delete QTX (if Apple jumped from 7 to 10, it’s surely so we can use this übercool shorthand name, so let’s). I tried that on a friend’s system and had to retrace my steps, as some important files seem to only be present in the QTX package. Web video playback suffered big time.
Doing what Jerry suggests is the best idea, I think. It works great here, though the odd video will open in QTX which then repossesses all formats for itself.
Why they did that is beyond me.Another one for the “Apple’s Really Stupid Ideas” folder.

No don’t move it from the utilities folder, just drag it to the doc as Jerry suggested. Also installing from the DVD that came with your computer installs version 7, if you already have final cut studio installed FIRST, then version 7 of QT will automatically become a PRO version.
