From DVD to MPEG Stream Clip to FCP to DVD
This is my first time posting on Creative Cow so please bare with me as I hope this is the best section to ask my questions.
Trying to preserve some Super 8mm home movies. Got them transferred to DVD. As expected they have no titles. I wish to transfer the content to FCP to put in titles and then send them off to DVD Studio Pro II.
Not sure what is the best way to send the content to FCP. Right now I’m using MPEG stream clip. I’m exporting it as a Quicktime file using these settings:
Apple FCP Uncompressed 10-Bit 4:2:2
720×480 DV-NTSC
Deinterlaced VideoIs that the best way to go? What about the 720×480? I don’t want to lose any picture quality. I’ve had problems with codecs before and I was told by a friend (to rule out the problems I was having at the time with another project) to use the uncompressed codec. Also how should it be exported from FCP? Same specs as before? I think I have about three hours worth of footage and may have to make two separate projects just to fit this all in my computer and external drive. By the way, I’m using Final Cut Pro VI on an iMac G5 (bought in ’04). Should my questions be reposted somewhere else?
Any assistance would be great! Thanks!
