HDV to DVD workflow?
Hello all, I’m a newbie editor with FCP6 and have a HDV project that is ready to send to Soundtrack Pro for finishing and then on to DVDSP or iDVD for distribution.
I was reading some posts online here and have managed to get myself confused. No surprise there…Here’s what I want to do…
1. Export the 50 minute HDV timeline into Soundtrack and get it back into FCP. Not a real issue, but part of the workflow I’m trying to perfect.
2. Send it to Color and then back to FCP once satisfied. Again, not a serious issue, but if you know of a better workflow than I am outlining here, I’m all eyes?
3. Get the project file from FCP6 into either DVDSP or iDVD and make it look as best as possible. I know I can’t burn BlueRays so I’m not worried about making and HD-DVD at all. I just want to send this project to my buddies (that are in it) so they can watch it at home with the best quality experience I can provide them.
I would really appreciate any positive input into this seemingly easy task. I’ve done some homework with some books I bought, but it doesn’t seem to be very updated.

Your workflow sounds good to me, as long as you know how to go from FCP > Soundtrack > FCP and FCP > Color > FCP.
