I have been given some Quicktime files to edit. However, all I get is the audio when I preview the files in Quicktime Player. The files have been created with the XDCAM EX codec (obviously being shot with an XDCAM).

What do I need to do see to see the files correctly in order to edit them?

If this is your first time ingesting EX then you need to download the software from Sony’s website https://pro.sony.com/bbsc/ssr/micro-xdcamexsite/resource.downloads. Once you do this there will be a new option under the file menu and you’ll be all set.

Also if you download clip browser (sorry don’t have link) you’ll be able to view them before you ingest to FCP

    Good luck.

You need FCP 6 or above to get the codec.

Any idea if the XDCAM EX codec will work with Final Cut Express?

    Thanks,
