I am editing in Final Cut Pro 6 and have an interview with a subject that is in a crowded room and there is a hum of the combined voices that I would like to lessen. Which audio filter would be the best to fix this problem?
Thank you for your help in advance!

Send to Soundtrack Pro and use the noise reduction. Basically you just have it sample a short section of the background murmur without the speech that you want to \”learn\” the correct frequencies to remove (set noise print).

You will probably have to dial down the effect a bit to keep your desired voice from distorting.

Agreed, when the BG noise is something like voice murmur, you can’t be as aggressive on the noise print settings since it’s in the same frequency range as your dialog you want to keep. Sometimes you can add a parametric EQ after the noise print process, and squeeze out a bit more BG noise reduction with some tweaking.
