  • Sending chroma key from FCP to virtual set in Motion

Hi all. I saw a very good tutorial on creating virtual sets in Apple Motion. The last part of the tutorial was dropping in the talent that was created on a green screen. However they did not say which program the green screen was created.

Here’s my issue. I have built the virtual set, created a chroma key effect in FCP. What is the best way to get this into motion from the FCP timeline? If I export as quicktime set at animation with 1 million colors it works, but doesn’t look so hot. I know there’s a way to export into motion, but when I go to export, i select “export to motion project” a pop up appears saying “save as” and I check the two boxes saying “launch motion and embed motion content.” I click save as and get a message saying “the video output device could not be opened” error message and the green background is back when it opens in motion. Any help would be appreciated. I know it’s something simple, but this paired with Comcast being Comcast has not made for a good day!

I am using a Mac 2 x 2.26 quad with 16 RAM, ATI Radeon HD 4870 card, FCP version 6.0.6, Motion version 3.0.2

    THANKS!
