  • Why can’t doesn’t my widescreen video export properly?

Posted by Sally Obrien on June 6, 2010 at 7:04 pm

I shot a video on my SD DVX100 in widescreen format.

I probably digitized the footage incorrectly, because I didn’t change the FCP settings to anamorphic when I brought the footage into my computer.

I’ve edited the piece, and keep trying different ways to export so that it plays at full screen. Right now there’s always a black box around it, and never fills up the whole screen.

What am I doing wrong? I tried different things like changing FCP Audio/Video sequence settings to “DV NTSC 48khz Anamorphic”.

When I export it as a quicktime I change my settings as well to “DV NTSC 48 khz Anamorphic”.

Similarly when I export to DVD using compressor, I use the settings to “Mpeg2 High quality Encode Widescreen”.

All of these always give me the same outcome: a video that won’t play at full screen. I don’t have to go back and redigitize the footage, do I?

    Much appreciation for any help!

    Sal

What are your sequence settings? Sounds like the pixel aspect ration may be set incorrectly.
