Compressor bit rate/quality issues
Hi guys.
I have a quick question regarding exporting a 1920x1080i sequence to a program stream via compressor.
My goal is to output online edits to lacie media drives using the highest possible mbps rate that will A) provide the highest quality and B) result in a finished program stream that is less than the maximum 4GB file size allowed on the Lacie drives.
Is there a way i can control the finished file size in the compressor settings? right now i have a variety of Quicktime file sizes sat in sequences in FCP that vary from just a few gig to over 50. the smaller files i simply export at 30mbps (motion estimation “best”) but in order to export the larger files i have to reduce the bit rate… considerably. currently it’s a bit of a shot in the dark as i’m guessing the required bit rate and after hours of exporting i end up with a file size greater than the 4GB allowed…
any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Why do you have the HD formated FAT-32?
Are you playing from a PC?
