    Hey all, need some help,

A client of mine has been working on a project in Premiere Pro CS4 for some time. However he wants me to take over on my system (FCP 7.0) I figured the best way to get his project into Final Cut would be to export it in PPro as an EDL, then relink the media in FC.

It seemed to work fine, I was able to import the EDL project in FC. All of the in/out points and timecode seemed to be correct. Although no of the clips kept their same name as the original, they were all labeled UNTITLED. This is going to make relinking a very frustrating process.

Any thoughts on how to keep in tact the file names?

    Thanks

    Jeff,
Go to my site and get a copy of FCP relink.
    It has an EDL option.

(I must admit that i have forgotten on how it actually works, but there is a manual and a free demo.)

However, if it’s not too much footage, you could always have FCP recapture.

In addition to Bouke’s suggestions, does Premiere have an option to “include file names in EDL comments”?

I haven’t tried importing an EDL in a while, but I /think/ that FCP should be able to read this data, as long as Premiere can provide it.
