Sony HVR-V1U 24 vs. 24A mode in Final Cut Pro
The following page from Sony states that the HVR-V1U camera’s “24” mode is for shooting a 24 fps “look” that is intended for editing in a 60i timeline, while the “24A” mode is intended for editing in a 24p timeline. I’m wondering if is possible to edit footage shot in “24” mode (not “24A”) in a 24p timeline in Final Cut. I need to be able to intercut the Sony footage with some other material from a Canon XH-A1 that was shot and captured at 23.98. In light of this, what is the best way to treat the Sony footage? If possible, workflow details would be greatly appreciated!

A bit of background: searching around online, I’ve found a number of different approaches to capturing 24 and 24A footage from the Sony V1U into Final Cut Pro. But I’m assuming the following doc from Sony has the correct and up to date info (it is dated 2009):

Have you tried taking the 24p footage into Compressor and turning on the Frames Control and selecting Reverse Telecine. Try that on a couple of clips and test.
