I have a Apple Pro Res HQ 720p 23.976 sequence with video at different frame rates, thus . When I render the sequence and all the clips that are 29.97 turn black in the viewer after rendering. I am also having this problem in After Effects with clips that render out turn black half way through. Anyone know what this could be?

    Thanks,

    Jonny

Different frame rates has been in FCP since 6 that’s one of the cool things FCP does allowing you to conform many different types of footage on the timeline, you do have to render it at the end so it will render to whatever your sequence is set to. As far as the codecs in After Effects everything is set to Animation or Apple Pro Res, the problem with black shows up mist often when I use Sapphire FX.

Yes, you can mix frame rates in FCP. But it doesn’t do it well. FCP doesn’t add the proper pulldown to make it play nice. If you like it, fine. Just know it’s wrong.

And David, I’m honored that you are now doing stock answers. That one is a good one!

It’s all good don’t wanna be an Apple Poster child, so the clips are exported and match the sequence now. I still do have the questions of getting black from FCP and After Effects when using Sapphire any answers on that?

My AE is good we did the conversion with QT PRO 7… What is weird is it’s just this one computer that is doing it. Could it be the video card? And… why would it continue rendering black frames out. I thought about deleting the preferences file for FCP but since it happens in 2 different programs I thought it may be hardware.
