I shot some footage in DV standard def and also some in HDSLR. Im editing in standard def on my timeline but when i imported the HD (720p) footage it looks pixelated is there a way to combat this?
    Thanks

Have you transcoded the DSLR footage to ProRes? If not, that could be part or all of the problem unless the footage itself is pixelated (not uncommon from DSLR footage because it can’t deal very well with camera movement nor deal well with fast action.)

Basically FCP doesn’t like H.264 files for editorial at all… and it only gets worse when you export sequences for delivery etc…

Do you have to render? SD doesn’t really look any good on a computer screen anyway. The pixels of SD video are non-square while the pixels on the computer screen ARE square. So SD just won’t really look to great. This is one of the reasons why you should only bother to judge your image on a broadcast monitor or decent TV at worst
