    Hello all,

I’ve got a quick ProRes question for you…

I’m working on a project that was shot with a Canon XH-A1 in 30f. All the clips were captured via FireWire in the HDV 1080p30 preset. The edit is coming along quite nicely.

My question is, should I switch to using ProRes instead of the HDV 1080p30 compressor? If so, how should I go about this?

    Thanks!

    Jesse

You don’t need to. But you could consider setting the render codec to ProRes. That speeds up work when you do any effects.

    Thanks Neil!

So if I was planning on taking this into color and doing some corrections, the HDV codec will hold up just fine or would it be better to be in a ProRes codec instead?
