  • Make “Center on Edit” the default audio dissolve

Posted by Max Carlson on April 23, 2010 at 2:02 am

Is there any way to set my audio dissolves to be “centered on edit” as the default. Right now the default is always start or end on edit, depending on where I add the dissolve (to the head or tail of the clip.)

    Any ideas?

Only cross fades between adjacent audio tracks are centered on edit. Fades at the beginning and end of clips always are either start on edit or end on edit. The video tracks behave the same way. There is no preference to change this.

    All the best,

No, sadly, if you add a transition using a keyboard shortcut, unfortunately you don’t get any control over this placement, its always “start on” at the head of a clip, “end on” at the tail, or “center on” if its an edit directly between two clips (with appropriate handles) … but if you drag and drop the transition to place it then you can directly control the alignment via your placement when dropping it.

Have to assume you are checkerboarding your audio. I wish I could have a quick key to add crossfade start, middle, and end… It would make life so much easier….
