  • FCP 7, uses only 1 core when rendering/comprssor

Hi I am FCP user since Version 3
I have a P6T Deluxe V1, and have tried on a P6t SE to use FCP and have more then one core working.
    It has 6 gigs of ram, a 920 I7 chip,and I have tryed this with a 4850,and 4870 video card.
If I render the time line or export using compressor, or exporte using quicktime conversion. FCP will use 100% I.E. 1 core and the trancoder or transcoderx will use 25% of a second core. If I set qmaster to use more then 1 core it will crash on all but 2 or 3 segment, thouse will render but are useless. If I set it to 1 core and add my laptop it will finish but the segments from my macbook show as unrendered. If I only use 1 istance it will work, but takes forever.
If I make a managed mode with Qadministrator, and look at the propites of my hackintosh, it will show 8x3ghgz Unkown.
In short my mac book will render somthing in 8 hours, and if I use my hackintosh it will render in 37 hours. I need this to work.
    Please help.

That’s what qmaster is for. You turn it on. Turn on Quickclusters with services, assign half your cores to it. Name the cluster. Start sharing.
Then, in compressor, you submit your render to that cluster. It will use the assigned cores and you can go back to editing without interruption. If that doesn’t work on a hackintosh, well, you get what you pay for.

Non-linear: all the time and nothing but.

    Tryed that
Even If I hit render all for the time line, it will only use one core, or use commpressor to my computer , it will only use one core

Render in the timeline will use only one, at least as far as I’ve ever heard. Same with compressor unless you setup Qmaster and submit your render to a cluster. This is one reason to make sure you have all matching media in your timeline, to minimize timeline rendering. you can’t avoid it altogether, but you can minimize it.
