Hey guys this is the first time I have posted on this site but I need some creative help…BAD!

Well Yesterday I got a job to make a “slideshow” with pictures from a mission trip to Moldova. The slideshow should start of light and jovial showing pictures of the kids laughing and enjyoing themselves then shifting into a much sadder tone where it shows the kids going through their hardships of life. I have all the pictures I just don’t know how to start it! I have never done a slideshow before and I definately don’t want this to turn out a basic PowerPoint or anything. I want it to look professional. I know the 3d picture effect and would like to know others that are interesting. I have high knowledge in After Effects, Photoshop, and Premiere.

Please help with suggestions or effects to make the slideshow more interesting and have more depth then just pictures being transitioned.

    Thanks alot guys,

    brad

The 3D picture effect is not fast. It can take a long time to mask and clone each shot, and some shots just can’t be cloned. Are you willing to invest the time into doing all the cloning, cutting, then animating for each shot? Keep in mind that one you start, it makes sense to do the same effect for every shot.

I believe in simple slideshows: full frame, dissolves, music. Let the images do the talking. People want to see the pictures, not your clever intervention.

If you want, consider slow moves on the shots (no fancy 3D) that are motivated, i.e. they reveal something interesting. You can also pan across faces, pull back to reveal a scene, and so on. They call it the “Ken Burns” effect, but it’s just slow camera moves that have been done for years.

My point is, don’t think that you need to get fancy to look professional. Some slow moves are really all you need to make things a little interesting … then get out of the way of the story that the pictures are telling.
