1080i50 Final Cut Pro
Posted by Fred Thomas on April 6, 2010 at 7:41 pmI’m just after downloading a 1080i50 clip and it seemed to download ok, when i played it again everything seemed ok except for when the camera pans across, any object in the picture that has a straight line it jitters. Besides this everything else plays perfect. The clip plays perfect when i view it on the lcd monitor on the camera.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

April 6, 2010 at 10:15 pmHow does it look externally during playback on an external video monitor? Should be judging it that way…

April 6, 2010 at 10:34 pmCheers for the response Jerry,
When i plug the camera into an external monitor it plays perfect. After i downloaded it into final cut pro i made a dvd of the finished product even though it had the jitters in the straight lines (just to be sure it wasn’t the monitors i was using with the computer) it still had them when i played the dvd back on a player.

April 7, 2010 at 2:10 pmCould be the codec you’re using. Instead of the AIC codec, try capturing to ProRes instead.

April 7, 2010 at 3:44 pmI captured the footage in HDV-Apple ProRes 422, but when i made a dvd of the footage the jitters were still there. When i view the footage on the camera it looks perfect and then on the capture window in fcp i can see the jitters, so its in this stage where i think the problem must be. Would it have anything to do with the REC TYPRE: Interlaced
SCAN TYPE: 50on the camera?

April 7, 2010 at 6:52 pmMake sure you’re capture preset is the same frame rate and type that the actual recording is… in other words, if the recording is 50i, then capture as such… are these settings the same?
Also set your canvas or viewer window to 100% size to see all that’s really there. Otherwise, it’s only playing back 1 of the 2 fields of video.

April 7, 2010 at 8:04 pmIt’s not the sequence settings I wanted you to check, it’s the capture preset settings… they need to match the source video’s frame rate and frame size… do they?
