Quicktime playback of FCP exports
Posted by Jeff Gerst on March 26, 2010 at 7:44 pmEverytime I export an HD sequence from FCP using “Current Settings”, QT cuts off a few pixels on the left and right border.
On other media players, like MPEG streamclip & VLC, I see the whole video that I see in FCP, but in QT, the borders are clipped.
Does anyone know why this would be. My workaround is to use the MPEG streamclip for playback, but I shouldn’t have to do this…
Thx –

March 26, 2010 at 8:05 pmNo, nothing is cut off, what you are seeing is a function of one of the settings in QT Player.
Go to Window>>Show Movie Properties>>Presentation and tinker with the various settings next to Conform apperture to see what they do.

March 26, 2010 at 8:35 pmQT 10 is a piece of unfinished Appleware that still very much in development Jeff. Everyone using FCS3 also installs Quicktime 7, which works exactly I mentioned above. Search the forum to find the link to install it or to find the directory on your FCS install disk where it’s located. I can’t remember just now and I’m heard out the door.

March 26, 2010 at 9:09 pmAlways glad to here back when there’s good news.
That QT 10 things is pretty darned useless at the moment. Why the Apple developers even bothered to include it as the default in FCS3 is is just a complete mystery.
