  • Sync Issue, Please help

Posted by Russell Hill on March 17, 2010 at 8:35 pm

Okay I know there has been a lot of different issues out there with this sync but I am unable to find something to help me so I am just posting it again.
    I have a 2×2.8 Ghz Quad-core Intel Xeon Processor
    4 GB Memory
FCP V 7 (below it says FCP 5.1.4 but that is wrong I have upgraded and I have not had this issue until now)
Capturing my footage through Firewire from a DSR-30
Easy Setup is set at NTSC, DV-NTSC and all rates
Audio/Video setting are set at DV NTSC 48khz for sequence and Capture, with device control set at firewire NTSC
I used a DSR 400 to shoot my video.

This is what is happening, I encode the video from the DSR 30 via Frirewire into my FCP. when finished I
place the footage into the time line and at the very beginning of the clip the audio and video are in sync but at the end they are way out of sync the clip is about 18 min long.

    Thanks so much.

Select the clip and control click-Item Properties and see if the audio rate is 48K or 47.5xxxx.
if it says 32K then the tape was recorded at 32K.

Chaos is the beginning of everything.

    Andrew,
The Properties say that the audio is 48.okhz. I notices that the compressor says that it is DV/DVCPRO-NTSC. I am shooting DVCAM think this has anything to do with it? I did just trash my prefs and started over and I got the same result. I set the Easy setup as NTSC, DV-NTSC, Rate 29.97. I am not sure WHAT is going on.

    Thanks for the help

    Andrew,
I looked there and the Audio is 48khz. I also noticed that the compressor said DV/DVCPro NTSC. Would this be an issue. I shot everything on DVCAM. I set FCP up on DV-NTSC. I am not sure maybe it is just a title.

    Thanks for you help
