  • Invert footage without double rotate

    Hi,

I’m sure I’m missing something, but I’ve not uncovered a solution for what seems to me to be a fairly staight forward problem.

Reasonably frequently I get footage from a Steadicam operator that is upside down, because due to time constraints on set, they just flip the camera over when they shoot in low mode.

For dailies generation, the additional render time required created by the double rotate command in video effects menu is a real pain in the backside.

given this particular 180 transform is pretty straight forward, I’m surprised that I haven’t been able to find a one step, less render speed impacting solution.

    What am I missing?

    Thanks in advance,

    Steve

Effects>Filters>Perspective>Flop you get a choice of horizontal, vertical, or both

moving parts are so last year

    Thanks much Terry,

I’ll check and see if this shortens transcode time from the double rotate. I’ll bet it does

Is there a way to set the default state of the flop filter to vertical?

    Thanks again,

    Steve

Yes, apply the filter to a clip set to vertical and in the effects menu Set to Favourite, or optionF. Then apply it from the favourites bin. The settings stick.
