What could be the reason for a Final Cut Sequence playing back too fast?
Have tried restarting and trashing the preferences but didn’t help.
    Advice would be much appreciated!!

Tell us more about your setup. What computer, OS version, FCP version, drives and clip parameters (codec, fps, frame size, etc.). Are you using any speed effects?

The same thing happened to me. I am using a Vid rate of 29.97 using Apple Intermediate Codec. Frame sizes vary. I tried a few different things, trashing preferences, rebooting hard drive… The answer turned out to be pretty simple. Set my settings in my sequence tab of my option bar to 100%. I don’t know why it wasn’t there in the first place but hopefully that will work for you as well.
