Well that really depends on what you are trying to do.
Could you be a more specific in what you are trying to accomplish?
I for example have probably not used a pluggin in a year or more. For what I do they just are not needed.

February 21, 2010 at 3:52 pmThe best plugins are the ones that do what you need or make your regular work faster and easier. The best prices are whatever the plugin maker charges for whatever reason they choose to set the price.
IOW, if there are 2 “cartoon look” plugins, one that costs $50 and looks like poo and is hard to use, another that costs $1500 and looks great and is easy to use, the top one at the best price is the $1500 one.

for a wide range of good quality special effects, transitions, looks etc, Genarts Sapphire is the best IMO. -

February 22, 2010 at 8:15 pmTwo of my favorites are Conduit Suite and dvMatte Pro from dvGarage.
Conduit gives you true nodal compositing right within FCP. It’s an extremely powerful tool and a great way to learn nodal compositing. It also allows you to build your own custom keyers to handle the job when plugin keyers fall down.

dvMatte Pro is a fast, comprehensive keying plugin that deals very well with 4:2:0 and 4:1:1 source footage.

dvGarage’s comprehensive free online tutorials are second to none.

September 4, 2011 at 9:57 pmI’m a pro editor and in my mind this is a completely legit question. He may have wanted to word it, what’s a great general purpose plug-in kit, but even so, why are you wasting your time pickin on the kids? i.e. “…the blood runs from their faces.”
*sigh
