Change Sequence to say ‘1 Stereo’ under Audio in the Browser?
Hi, I have a ton of clips, and I’m trying to match the sequence settings up exactly with the clips so I don’t have to render, all the clips are DV/DVCPRO – NTSC the only thing that differs, is the audio, the clips are all marked as ‘1 Stereo’ but I can’t for the life of me get the sequence settings to change from ‘2 Outputs’ its literally like 6 hours worth of stuff, so rendering just the audio would take forever, and I have more projects lined up after this… What can I do? please don’t say re export my clips, it took two days! X_X thanks!

If you drop a clip into a new timeline, FCP will ask you if you want to match the settings to the incoming clip. Just say yes. Are your audio tracks on the clips 48K? If the audio is at 44K and not 48K, just go up under settings and change the time line to match.

Open a brand-new timeline and add your footage, it should ask you again. If not, you can go up to the menu SEQ-SETTINGS and set it to match your incoming footage. You can also change the audio there too.

I had the experience that even though I was prompted (when putting a clip into a sequence) to “Change sequence settings to match the clip settings”, and selected “Yes”, the sequence audio was still mismatched, resulting in the situation Charles mentioned, where rendering was indicated as required for audio.
(In my case, I had imported Quicktime files as the source clips.)
What I did was open the original Quicktime (QT) files in QT Player, look at the settings, and see that indeed the original audio was 44.1 KHz, but the sequence hadn’t been set to match. Using the FCP Sequence >> Settings… menu, I manually changed the Audio Settings from 48 KHz to the original media’s 44.1 KHz, and suddenly the red audio “render required” bar disappeared.
