  • Capturing/playback of digibeta in FCP very wonky

So i just captured a commercial from digibeta and it was just fine, like the 1000 times i’ve done before. I just got another tape, and when i play it through my Sony J-30 in final cut i get a ridiculous amount of digitization visually. When i take it out to my playback area (a different digi machine hooked up to a monitor) it plays fine. Other digis play fine in my J-30, but this particular tape gets all digitized. And is so when i capture the file also. Any ideas/suggestions? Thanks!

Capture it from a machine that plays it OK or dub it. It’s a tape and/or a machine error somewhere there sounds like to me. Is the errant machine clean? Could be the tape is just tracking wrong or something along those lines.

Thanks. I’m getting another copy from the post house, so hopefully this one will work. All my other tapes work fine… so strange.
