  How do I add an effect to a whole sequence?

  This is just driving me mad- I need to add the same effect to a whole sequence eg a crop / resize. How do I do this? I normally edit with Avid and you just put the effect on a new video layer and you’re done. Can you do the same with FCP? Help please!!!

  Select All, then go to Sequence > Nest Items. Then, select the nest in the timeline and press Return. Now you add a motion or filter effect for the entire sequence. You can also copy one clip and then paste attributes to the rest.

  BTW, FCP doesn’t have tracks like Avid, so you can’t do the same trick as you thought you could do.

  That’s the method I use. Right click copy the clip that has the attributes that you want, then select all of the other clips, right click and select “copy attributes”. This opens a dialog that lets you choose which attributes you want to paste. Very cool. And, you can save them as a favorite. Also very cool…
